Users and accounts
Users, linked accounts and the account lifecycle.
Users
Every user has a required email that is unique within the environment. Methods that do not collect an email, such as some phone or anonymous sign-ins, create a placeholder email that stays unverified.
Accounts
A user can have several accounts linked: a password account plus one or more social providers.
| Action | Notes |
|---|---|
| Link a social account | Fails with SOCIAL_ACCOUNT_ALREADY_LINKED if it belongs to another user. |
| Unlink an account | You cannot unlink a user's last account (FAILED_TO_UNLINK_LAST_ACCOUNT). |
| List accounts | Shows the accounts linked to the user. |
Account lifecycle
| Action | Notes |
|---|---|
| Update the user | Name, image and other allowed fields. |
| Change email | May be disabled for your environment (CHANGE_EMAIL_DISABLED). |
| Change password | Requires a fresh session. |
| Delete the user | Can require confirmation through a callback link. |
