Troubleshooting
Common Gateway responses and what to do.
Common responses
The response is bigger than the route's size limit (32 MB by default). Reduce the response size, for example with pagination.
Every attempt failed. Check the target's health endpoint and logs. Status-code retries apply only to GET, HEAD, OPTIONS and QUERY. See Reliability.
The route's required filter could not load, so the route fails closed.
Gateway buffers responses and does not stream them. See Responses.
Gateway can retry a request of any method when the target closes the connection without a usable response. Make effectful endpoints idempotent, for example with idempotency keys. See Reliability.
Passive tracking needs 3 consecutive failures, and active checks need 3 failed probes, before a server leaves rotation. A server out of rotation can be tried again once its 30-second failure window has passed. See Health.
